This is a beautiful watercolour - one of Eric Tufnell's best. Characteristically full of detail and movement, HMS Aurora was an Arethusa-Class light cruiser launched in 1936. She served Scandinavia during World War Two and in the hunt for the Scharnhorst as well as off Malta in 1941 and Sicily in 1943 where she was badly damaged by German bombers. One famous member of her crew was the actor Kenneth Moore. Professionally cleaned and mounted, vibrant blue colours and 56x44cm.

HMS Maidstone with two submarines

HMS Maidstone was the 8,900-ton depot ship for the 1st Submarine Flotilla. On board were carpentry shops, a foundry, electrical and plumbing repair shops and 1,100 skilled craftsmen as well torpedo's and mines. This is an unusual and subject for a painting but also a fascinating study of the support ships needed to keep front-line fighting ships supplied. 42x31cm. Not yet cleaned or reframed.

Submarine 019
